It will be ideal if students get the scores they want on their first trials. In reality, that hardly happens. If students have to take the SAT more than one time, it is important to understand how their scores are used. That is, how colleges consider their prospective students' SAT scores. In most cases there are three methods: the highest section scores out of all trials, the single highest combined score on one test date, and all scores from all test dates. So in theory, there is no restriction on how many times students should take the test. Still, it is undesirable if they spend too much time on the SAT while there are other tasks.
